Cortona3D is a powerful, flexible and cost-effective document authoring tool that facilitates the creation of digital and interactive documentation for use on the shop floor or by customers. Cortona3D enables organizations to easily produce and/or update all the support documentation that end users will need to execute their tasks efficiently and correctly on the production or assembly line. The tools allows manufacturing engineers to reuse existing CAD data or other 3D source material to author interactive 3D visualizations for more effective support documentation, dramatically reducing effort and timelines. Its intuitive interface enables users with no 3D expertise to create compelling simulations and associated text simultaneously.
Cortona3D is a standalone application, but it can also be integrated to Siemens Teamcenter. Many manufacturers today face the continuous pressure to deliver competitive products faster and have implemented Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions to improve and synchronize their design, engineering and manufacturing processes. Still, this pressure, combined with the increasing trend towards mass customization and high product variability, has made it difficult for companies to keep up with product changes and prevent launch delays due to the siloed development of product and documentation. More often than not, technical publication is still largely isolated and a follow-on process. Moreover, trying to do this with traditional authoring systems, i.e. authors create and manage their work in isolated from product development environment, can cause significant inaccuracy and rework when engineering changes occur.
Cortona3D for Teamcenter is an integrated solution that overcomes this isolation and enables technical authors to work in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) environment and interact directly with engineering design geometry and bills of material (BOMs) to rapidly create 2D/3D interactive parts catalogs, maintenance manuals, training materials and Electronic Work Instructions (EWI) that reflect accurate product description. Cortona3D for Teamcenter is tightly integrated with Teamcenter Manufacturing Process Planner (MPP). With direct access to product source material authors can start to create content for publications and manage changes between variants. The integrated solution makes certain that documentation is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
